Rare 18th Century Grisaille Spa Box

This is an extraordinary and extremely rare box from Spa, Belgium. This was created around the mid 1700s. On the list and around the box there are hand painted scenes. The lid depicts an encounter of a shepherd with a milkmaid taking a break to dip her feet in the stream. On the sides are images of homes, farms and scenery creating a window into that long ago time. This is a wonderful piece of history created by craftspeople with extraordinary skill.
