Georgian Satinwood & Purple Heart Work Box c.1825

£875

This is a highly unusual George IV satinwood and purple heart work box, circa 1825. The box is trapezoidal in shape, with a domed lid. Inside the box, the original paper lining is still in tact, though it does look its full 200 years. The paper trade label is also still present on the underside of the lid, though the writing is no longer visible.

Inside the box there are a pair of drawers that sit under the eaves of the box on the right and left side. It also has a pair of ebonised handles and 4 ebonised feet. The size of the box leans towards the larger end, giving the box presence.
