George II Sewing Box - circa 1760

This is a lovely George II inlaid sewing box from around 1760. It has canted rectangular forms on the sides with sprays of inlaid flowers. The cants are decorated with pilasters echoing the Greek trends at the time during the Age of Enlightenment. The lid has a oval centre with sprays of flowers encompassing it. There are multiple inlaid borders. The interior has been lined with paper and it has maple and mahogany divisions creating 11 distinct areas. This box is in excellent condition.
